White Rock, B.C. – Carlin Gold Corporation (TSX Venture, CGD), ("Carlin" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that a Phase I reverse circulation drilling program has commenced at the Company's Golconda Summit project, Humboldt County, Nevada.

Golconda Summit is located in the northern Edna Mountains, approximately 20 miles south-southwest of Barrick's Getchell Mine, and on the north end of the Battle Mountain-Eureka Mineral Trend. Other nearby gold operations include the Pinson Mine project (Barrick), Twin Creeks Mine (Newmont), Lone Tree complex (Newmont), and Marigold complex (Goldcorp).

The geologic setting and the Company's exploration work program on theGolconda Summit property have been described in previous news releases. The currentdrill program is designed to follow up on encouraging results of a 1,860 foot trenching program, and also to evaluate other targets. Best trench result was 80 feet averaging 4.90 g/t Au in Havallah Sequence rocks of the upper plate of the Golconda Thrust Fault (see previous news releases for complete results). Two favorable lithologic zones are being targeted in the lower plate of the Golconda Thrust Fault, below the anomalous gold zones encountered in the trenches:

1. The calcareous sandstone of the upper part of the Edna Mountain Formation, which is projected to occur immediately below the Golconda Thrust Fault. This unit hosts a portion of the nearby Lone Tree deposit, currently being mined by Newmont.

2. The Antler Limestone, which occurs below the base of the overlying EdnaMountain Formation. The stratigraphic equivalent of this unit is the primary host rock at the original Chimney Creek deposit, located 28 miles to the northwest (over 1.2 million ounces of gold mined by Gold Fields prior to consolidation into Twin Creeks operation).

Most of the exploration drilling prior to Carlin's involvement consisted of shallow holes which were terminated in Havallah Sequence rocks, short of the more favorable lower plate host rocks described above. Even so, several of these holes contained anomalous gold mineralization including 35ft. @ 3.77 g/t Au (see previous news releases).

At the conclusion of the Phase I program, the drill rig will move to the Company's Iowa Canyon property, in Lander County, Nevada.

The Iowa Canyon property is located 57 miles south of Battle Mountain, along the northwest flank of the Toiyabe Range, 29 miles south-southwest of Barrick's Cortez Hills deposit. The geologic setting has been described in previous news releases.

Several limited exploration programs have been conducted in the past by previous operators, and have targeted both sedimentary-hosted (Carlin-style) mineralization hosted in favorable Paleozoic lithologies and epithermal mineralization hosted in silicified Tertiary volcanic rocks. The best previous hole to date (100 ft. @ 0.75 g/t Au) is within the Tertiary (Oligocene) volcanic rocks at Chem Hill (see previous press releases).

The primary target is a prominent northwest trending structural corridor which extends 8,000 feet from the range out into the alluvial covered pediment. This trend includes the silicified mineralized Tertiary rocks on Chem Hill to the northwest and the weakly mineralized (up to 0.675 g/t Au) Paleozoic carbonate rocks to the southeast.

The initial program will concentrate along the aforementioned northwest structural zone. Following Phase I at Iowa Canyon, the rig will move back to Golconda Summit for follow-up on favorable results. Total footage for Phase I on both projects will be approximately 10,000 feet.

Technical Advisor Appointment

William Oriel has joined the Company as a technical advisor and consultant. Bill has over 30 years experience in the exploration industry, with an excellent discovery track record. Bill has served in senior management positions with Noranda, Meridian Mineralsand Newmont, and has played a leading role in discovery, exploration and delineation of gold deposits along the Carlin Trend (Nevada), Bear Track (Idaho) and the California Mother Lode. Bill's most recent position was as senior consultant to Placer Dome, where his primary focus was along the Cortez trend of gold deposits. Bill will advise on the Company's current projects and assist in the acquisition of new opportunities.
