White Rock, B.C. – Carlin Gold Corporation (TSX Venture, CGD), ("Carlin" or the “Company”) is pleased to announce progress on three Nevada properties,

Highlights:

• strong gold values confirmed in Golconda Summit trenching program; drilling permit is issued;
• drill program plans finalized at Iowa Canyon; permit application submitted; and
• drill program plans finalized at Willow/Currant, permit application submitted.

Golconda Summit, Humboldt county, Nevada

The Golconda Summit property is located in the northern Edna Mountains, approximately 20 miles south-southwest of Barrick's Getchell mine, and on the north end of the Battle Mountain-Eureka Mineral trend. Nearby gold operations include the Pinson mine project (Barrick), Getchell mine (Barrick), Twin Creeks mine (Newmont), Lone Tree complex (Newmont) and Marigold complex (Glamis).

The Golconda Summit property is underlain by a thrust faulted Paleozoic sedimentary section that constitutes preferred host rocks in the nearby Getchell gold belt and Lone Tree Mine area. Trenches excavated by a previous operator reportedly encountered highly anomalous gold concentrations associated with local strongly altered structural zones in the upper plate of the Golconda Thrust fault, suggesting leakage from a possible deeper high-grade gold mineralized zone hosted in more favourable lower plate lithologies. Most of the previous exploration drilling consisted of shallow, vertical drill holes, which were terminated short of the more favourable lower plate host rocks. Even so, several holes contained anomalous gold mineralization including 35 feet at 0.110 ounce per ton gold.

A drill targeting program was initiated in March, 2006, with the goal of delineating both shallow structurally controlled targets in the upper plate Havallah sequence, as well as deeper targets in the favourable lower plate stratigraphy. Geologic mapping, rock chip sampling, soil sampling and trenching have been completed. The trenching program consisted of 1,860 linear feet excavated in four separate trenches.

Drill program planned

A phase I drill program is planned to follow up on the encouraging trench results, and also to evaluate other targets. Two primary favourable lithologic zones are being targeted below the anomalous gold zones encountered in the trenches:

1. the calcareous sandstone of the upper part of the Edna Mountain formation, which is projected to occur immediately below the Golconda Thrust fault; and
2. the Antler limestone, which occurs below the base of the overlying Edna Mountain formation.

The company has received a drilling permit for the phase I program, which will be initiated as soon as possible subject to drill rig availability.

Iowa Canyon, Lander county, Nevada

The Iowa Canyon property (ICP) is located 57 miles south of Battle Mountain, and 29 miles south-southwest of Barrick's Cortez Hills deposit, along the northwest flank of the Toiyabe Range. Bedrock geology consists of a thick section of Paleozoic clastic and carbonate rocks intruded by Cretaceous granodiorite and unconformably overlain by Oligocene volcanic rocks. Several small tectonic windows of carbonate rocks are exposed in the siliceous sequence. The window is presumed to be the lower plate of the Roberts Mountain thrust fault, and includes favourable host rocks for Carlin-style gold mineralization.

Several limited exploration programs have been conducted in the past, and have targeted both sedimentary-hosted (Carlin-style) mineralization hosted in the Paleozoic lithologies, and epithermal mineralization hosted in the Tertiary volcanic rocks. The best hole to date (100 feet at 0.022 ounce per ton gold) is within the volcanic rocks at Chem Hill, a topographic outlier located approximately 2,200 feet outboard of the main range front.

The company has completed a phase I drill targeting program, and a drilling permit has been submitted. The primary target is a prominent northwest-trending structural corridor which extends 8,000 feet from the range out into the alluvial covered pediment and past the Chem Hill outlier. Previous detailed ground magnetic surveys suggest several additional target structures in the covered pediment area.

Willow-Currant, Elko county, Nevada

Willow-Currant is an early stage property, and represents a Carlin-style target within a potential new gold belt. The property consists of 128 claims and 480 acres of fee land on the northern end of the Snake Mountains, approximately 40 miles northwest of the town of Wells. The area has received only a modest amount of past exploration attention of less than 15 holes are documented in the past 25 years. However, recent success on the nearby Pequop property, along with regional geochemistry results documented in an early 2006 professional geological publication, have drawn attention to the area. Carlin has completed a drill targeting program consisting of geologic mapping along with soil and rock chip geochemistry. Several untested targets have been defined, and a drill permit application has been submitted.

Drilling plans

Three Nevada projects are ready to drill. The company's immediate plans are to co-ordinate the drilling of two of these projects, subject to suitable rig availability.
